Primary objective
To promote the visual arts exhibitions, performing arts events, art house cinema program and community arts and major events
presented at the Araluen Arts Centre to the local Central Australian community, visitors to Alice Springs and national audiences, in
order to consistently grow audience attendances. The position is also required to maintain a strong public profile and presence for
all venues and facilities located on the Araluen Cultural Precinct, along with a high standard of public relations between clients,
audiences and the community in general.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Liaising closely with the Director, Araluen Cultural Precinct, develop and co-ordinate publicity and promotional campaigns for
the Araluen Arts Centre and other venues located at the Araluen Cultural Precinct, in order to maintain a high public profile of
the facilities and to maximise community awareness of Araluen events and initiatives.
1. Liaising closely with the Director, Araluen Cultural Precinct and senior staff of the Araluen Arts Centre, develop and implement
publicity and promotional strategies and campaigns for individual events held at the Araluen Arts Centre, optimising resources
to most effectively reach target markets.
1. Liaise with commercial clients of the Araluen Arts Centre to develop and implement publicity and promotional campaigns, within
specified budgets.
1. Develop advertising and promotional material for all events held at the Araluen Arts Centre in conjunction with presenters,
artists, hiring clients and other Araluen Arts Centre staff and effect its distribution to target audiences.
1. Develop marketing and promotional material consistent with the corporate image of the Northern Territory Government
Department of People Sport and Culture.
1. Liaise with Araluen sponsors and ensure Araluen's agreements with them are maintained and updated annually.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated expertise and experience in the area of developing and implementing cost effective publicity and media.
2. Demonstrated experience in promotional strategies and campaigns.
1. Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of audience development strategies.
2. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of the community, commercial hirers
and promoters, developing, publishing and printing publicity and promotional materials.
1. Proficiency in IT skills in photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite, publishing software.
2. Proven ability to work independently and manage a range of projects at the one time, with experience managing project and
program budgets.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of all aspects of the media, with established networks in the industry.
1. A tertiary qualification in marketing or a related field.
2. Knowledge of the arts sector and an appreciation of visual and performing art practices.
