Full-Time Executive Leadership Role - Unique Opportunity in Launceston, Tasmania.
We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead two prominent hospitality assets in Launceston, Tasmania totally 108 accommodation rooms, restaurants & function center.
* The Colonial Hotel Launceston- a 4 Star 70 accommodation room hotel operating under the Choice Hotels "Quality" brand.
* The George Hotel Launceston - a newly constructed 4.5 Star 5-storey boutique hotel comprising 38 accommodation rooms under the Choice Hotels "Ascend" brand.
* Three Steps on George Heritage Restaurant
* Colonial QC Brasserie & Function Operations
The role also includes senior oversight and collaboration with the independently positioned Three Steps on George restaurant and QC Brasserie & Colonial Functions Centre associated bar operations, ensuring alignment of guest experience, operational standards, and commercial performance.
This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for operational performance, financial outcomes and further growth and development of the properties across accommodation and related food & beverage operations.
Following the recent addition of a brand-new accommodation wing, the hotel is entering a growth phase with additional capacity — presenting a rare opportunity for the right General Manager to shape operations, drive performance, and truly make their mark.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
Leadership of hotel accommodation and food & beverage teams includes leadership and performance management of all departmental teams including: Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Business Development/Marketing, F & B & Functions & Kitchen.
* Full P & L accountability across hotel operations
* Leadership of hotel and food & beverage teams
* Revenue, yield, and cost control strategies
* Delivery of high standards, compliance, and quality assurance
* Budgeting, forecasting, and operational reporting
* Guest experience excellence and reputation management
* Stakeholder engagement with owners, suppliers, and tourism partners
* Leadership training of Heads of Departments and all hotel teams
* Delivery of high standards of presentation of the properties and surrounds
ABOUT YOU
* Proven experience as a Hotel General Manager with demonstrated ability to meet and exceed KPIs and set/manage departmental KPIs/accountability
* Minimum 5-7 years of Hotel General Manager experience is required
* A minimum of 5 years of Hotel General Manager experience is essential for this role
* Ability to seek out new growth opportunities, cost and quality control, and maximize staff and guest experience
* Strong commercial and financial management and reporting capability to ensure continued growth of the businesses
* Strong knowledge of computer systems & software applications to ensure rates management opportunities and high yields are achieved
* Initiative to maintain and update process, procedures with a focus on continual staff development, change management and hotel growth and improvement
* Experience overseeing bars, kitchen, restaurant and room service operations in a medium sized hotel
* Experience managing hotels with a minimum of 100+ rooms is essential
* Previous General Manager experience must include managing properties with rooms
* Background in branded hotel operations preferred
* Professional, hands-on structured leadership style with a focus on accountability
