Core Responsibilities
* Design and author high‐quality stylized simulations including fire, smoke, water, particle dynamics.
* Collaborate in look‐development phases to translate concept artwork into performant 3D assets.
* Propagate established FX setups across production shots while maintaining consistency.
* Maintain and expand internal library of effects presets for efficient reuse.
* Generate cache, render, and pack simulation assets for downstream departments.
* Follow proprietary technical pipelines, flagging bottlenecks and suggesting optimizations.
* Coordinate with Lighting, Compositing, and Animation teams to integrate FX with character animation and environment lighting.
* Respond to supervisory feedback promptly with precision and problem‐solving mindset.
* Support junior crew through training and technical guidance.
Position Requirements
* 5+ years of production experience creating visual effects for high‐end 3D animated feature films or premium episodic series.
* Portfolio that demonstrates mature, highly graphic and non‐photorealistic stylization comparable to projects like Spider‐Man: Into the Spider‐Verse, Entergalactic, Arcane, or The Witness.
* Demo reel focused on stylized FX for CG animated films or series.
* Expert proficiency in Houdini, Katana, and Arnold.
* Professional familiarity with Maya and Nuke is advantageous.
* Strong artistic sense for design, detail, scale, weight, and timing, adaptable across varied styles.
* Skill in managing complex node structures, writing expressions, and optimizing simulation data.
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure, multitask, and meet strict milestone dates.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to articulate technical FX concepts.
