Role Purpose

The Estimator plays an important role in supporting the success of Central Steel Build by preparing accurate, competitive, and commercially sound quotations for a wide range of construction and steel building projects. Working closely with the Sales and Engineering teams, this role ensures estimates are well‐researched, aligned with customer needs, and reflective of CSB's commitment to quality and excellence.

The Estimator contributes to continuous improvement across systems and processes, provides technical and commercial insights during tender preparation, and helps the business maintain strong market positioning through reliable and efficient estimating practices.

Key Accountabilities

* Prepare accurate, timely, and competitive quotations for construction and steel building projects.
* Analyse materials, labour, logistics, and subcontractor pricing to ensure estimates are commercially sound and aligned with organisational goals.
* Review plans, specifications, and engineering documentation to identify project requirements, risks, and cost implications.
* Support the bid and submission process by ensuring clarity of pricing, completeness of documentation, and adherence to internal standards.
* Use historical data, supplier insights, and market trends to inform pricing decisions.
* Maintain compliance with internal governance, ensuring all estimates meet quality and procedural expectations.
* Contribute to the refinement of estimating tools, templates, and processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential
* Experience in estimating within the construction, steel fabrication, or related manufacturing sectors.
* Strong ability to read plans, interpret drawings, and understand construction sequencing.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating‐related software.
* Solid commercial acumen and understanding of cost and margin management.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under time pressures.
Desirable
* Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent experience.
* Experience contributing to tender submissions, client discussions, or value‐engineering activities.
* Knowledge of steel building systems, structural fabrication, or industrial construction.
