We are seeking a Data Governance Specialist to develop and implement our Personal Information (PI) retention policy. This role will support data privacy, reduce the risk of breaches, and minimize exposure from aging datasets.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain an up-to-date inventory of systems containing PI, collaborating with technical teams.
* Classify and tag PI based on sensitivity and regulatory requirements.
* Assess PI data holdings to identify aged data and evaluate governance against regulatory requirements, recommending remediation actions.
* Develop and document PI retention periods and update related policies and procedures.
* Contribute to the design and delivery of a data retention framework aligned with legal and regulatory obligations.
* Work with compliance, legal, technology, and cybersecurity teams to operationalize policy and mitigate risks.
* Oversee safe disposal and archival processes, ensuring audit-readiness.
The ideal candidate will have experience in data mapping, lineage analysis, or inventory assessments, as well as strong skills in working with structured and unstructured data formats. Proficiency in reporting and visualization tools is essential. A degree in Law, Privacy, or a related discipline, and/or 3 years' experience in data governance is required.
