SMR Group of the Department of Health is the central policy, strategy, and planning group for the Department. Government Relations and Strategic Policy (GRaSP) manages and progresses the Department's strategic policy and government relations agenda by providing high-level strategic support to portfolio ministers, senior Department members, and hospital groups.
Role
The General Manager (GRaSP) is a specialist senior manager whose primary responsibilities include:
* Providing strategic leadership and direction in the planning, development, implementation, management, and delivery of key strategic programs, initiatives and major projects, including the development, implementation and review of frameworks, policies, systems and processes that support strategic corporate strategies.
* Providing definitive high-level strategic advice to internal and external stakeholders, including portfolio ministers and senior government officers, on intergovernmental, policy and regulation reform agenda for the health system.
* Developing highly effective and productive relationships and managing networks with stakeholders across the State and Commonwealth Governments.
Qualifications
* Demonstrated high-level knowledge of the health sector and the political, social and organisational environment, along with specialist knowledge of government policy, processes and accountability requirements in regulation, intergovernmental relations, policy, communications and legislation.
* High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships and apply negotiation, influencing and consultation skills to achieve strategic objectives.
* Advanced strategic planning, conceptual, analytical and creative skills, including the ability to identify relevant issues and priorities, make sound judgments and develop innovative recommendations for system-wide strategies and priorities.
Details of Appointment
Permanent full‐time, day‐worker position. Working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Position Features
* The role is office-based, with some intra-state and interstate travel required.
Salary
$170,409 to $188,400 per annum, plus a 12% superannuation contribution. Salary range is in accordance with the Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

Eligibility
* Appropriate professional and/or tertiary qualifications in business administration, law, public policy or communications.
* Extensive experience in intergovernmental relations, negotiations and the operations of government, particularly policy, regulation and communications.
