Position: JSTE Engineer (Network Engineer)
CLEARANCE: Personnel must have a minimum NV1 security clearance. NV2 is preferred.
Onsite: 5 Days’/ Week
Primary Responsibilities
The Network Engineer is responsible to the Joint Synthetic Training Environment (JSTE) Architect for the design, configuration, documentation, and deployment of network components in the Joint Collective Training Branch (JCTB) accredited Joint Synthetic Training Environment (JSTE). This includes firewall, routing, and switching device configuration and node deployments; monitoring connectivity states and troubleshooting issues; and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Video Teleconferencing (VTC). Support Executive decision making with subject matter expertise, including production of option-sets in conjunction with JSTE Engineering.
Deploy, configure, and support network components of the JSTE. Under change control, configure routing, switching, and firewall hardware and software. Configure and support Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Video Teleconference (VTC) capabilities. Troubleshoot diverse faults with engage constructively with peer teams. Contribute content and technical designs to knowledge repositories and provide input to JCTB policy, process and procedures. Apply Information Technology Infrastructure Management (ITIL) Service Management principles and processes under direction. This includes participation in Change Advisory Boards (CAB), implementation of approved changes, and utilising service management toolsets for tasking and scheduling. Assignment to designated exercises as part of Technical Control (TECHCON) and Simulation Control (SIMCON). This may include participation in exercise planning and work routines, out of hours support, and some shift work. Handle classified information in accordance with Commonwealth policy including the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) and Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM). Responsible for the protection of Commonwealth Intellectual Property (IP) and upholding Defence’s international obligations including Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements. Work closely with other JCTB technical teams, and may be assigned to cross-skill, cross-functional or project teams as directed.

Qualifications
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) vendor certification. Alternatively, a Tertiary Degree or Vocational qualifications in a closely related discipline.
Experience & Competencies
5+ years industry experience in networking, relevant military experience, or combination of the two.
Skills & Attributes
An unrestricted ability to deploy to Australian Defence Force (ADF) military installations in support of training events. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with technical peers and frontline IT leadership.

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) vendor certification.
Experience & Competencies
ITIL framework certification.
Skills & Attributes
Knowledge of VMware, ServiceNow, CrowdStrike Falcon LogScale, and Citrix Netscaler instances.
