Overview
We are currently looking for a Java L3 Production Support Specialist to support critical, business-facing applications for a large enterprise environment.
This role is ideal for someone who is technically strong in Java, enjoys solving complex production issues, and has a genuine production support mindset. It is not a pure development role and it is not a senior leadership or architecture position.
The initial contract is 4 days per week for one month, with the potential to extend.
The role
You will be responsible for providing Level 3 production support across critical Java-based applications. The focus is on stability, incident resolution, and keeping systems running smoothly.
Day to day, this includes:
* Owning L3 production support for Java applications
* Troubleshooting and resolving complex production issues
* Performing root cause analysis and preventing repeat incidents
* Working closely with development and infrastructure teams
* Monitoring logs, jobs, and system health
* Improving system stability through automation and scripting
* Supporting incident, problem, and change processes
What we are looking for
* Strong hands-on experience supporting Java applications in production
* Solid knowledge of Core Java and Spring (Spring Boot preferred)
* Proven experience in L3 support or production support environments
* Strong SQL skills, including query optimisation
* Comfortable working in Linux/Unix environments
* Experience with incident management and ITIL-based processes
* A calm, methodical approach to handling high-pressure incidents
Nice to have
* Autosys or similar job scheduling tools
* Shell scripting for automation
* Exposure to AWS or cloud-based environments
* Experience with monitoring and observability tools
What this role is not
* Not a people management or team lead role
* Not an architecture or solution design position
* Not suited to candidates looking for strategic ownership or long-term transformation work
