Lead Structural Engineer
We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Structural Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and delivery of structural projects.
* The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in structural engineering and at least 10 years of experience working on large-scale engineering projects.
* You will also have strong design experience in brownfield environments and demonstrated experience in client-facing project management roles.
* Prior experience with ISO, AS, ANSI, API standard design codes is highly desirable.
As a leader, you will be responsible for mentoring and supporting the development of junior engineers within the team.
In addition to your technical expertise, you will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
About the Role
1. Ensure structural design deliverables are completed according to standards, checked, approved, and issued to other disciplines and to the client with revision control documentation.
2. Act in a client-facing role to lead and coordinate the activities of a project team to ensure time and budget objectives are achieved.
3. Generate and review technical documents and deliverables.
4. Prepare specifications, design criteria, scope of work, and material take-off lists.
5. Prepare engineering proposals and monitor budgets, staying within the assigned budget and report any discrepancies.
6. Complete tasks under minimal supervision ensuring that objectives of cost, quality, and time are met.
7. Maintain a high level of communication with the Project Manager/Engineering Manager and regularly inform of technical activities, staffing, budgets, and schedules and explain reasons for actions taken.
8. Contribute to the ongoing development of the Structural Engineering Team to deliver and implement best practice technical solutions by applying knowledge of industry developments and from experience.
9. Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative solutions.
About You
1. Bachelor's degree in structural engineering.
2. 10+ years' proven technical experience with an engineering consulting firm or other large organization.
3. Accreditation as a Charter Engineer (or equivalent) or ability to obtain.
4. Strong design experience in brownfield environment highly desirable.
5. Demonstrated experience in client-facing project management roles, leading design teams to deliver project outcomes.
6. Demonstrated experience in the design of steel structures and concrete foundations for industrial and mining projects.
7. Enhanced knowledge of the Engineering ISO, AS, ANSI, API etc. standard design codes.
8. Ability to mentor and support the development of structural engineers within the team.
9. Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and as part of a multidisciplinary group.
10. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
