In this role you will analyse and interpret data, support the development of metadata standards, assist with data migration, and contribute to the design of a Common Data Model for asset management. This role also focuses heavily on conducting data discovery, standardising reporting and analytics to uplift data literacy and enable self-service analytics across the Division.
As the Data Analyst, you will:
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand data requirements, ensure alignment with organisational goals, and provide insights that support datadriven decision-making and governance priorities.
* Deliver data analysis, profiling, and auditing activities to support business requirements, identify data quality issues, and improve the accuracy and reliability of data assets.
* Manage the development of a consolidated data inventory by identifying ownership gaps, creating a pain-point heatmap, and providing recommendations to inform prioritisation.
* Advise on the development and implementation of metadata standards, master data rules, and integration frameworks to establish robust data foundations for asset management.
* Collaboratively design and deliver interactive, visually engaging Power BI reports and dashboards that align with user needs and enable data-driven decision-making.
* Ensure the standardisation and automation of reporting processes by leveraging enterprise tools such as Microsoft Power BI and Fabric.
* Evaluate and maintain data accuracy, consistency, and quality by performing validation checks, optimising query performance, and contributing to data governance initiatives.
* Document and maintain data processes, workflows, and methodologies, ensuring adherence to best practice standards and version control principles.
What you'll bring to the role:
* Proven experience in collating, analysing, and integrating data from multiple disparate systems with varying levels of data maturity.
* Strong skills in data analysis, profiling, and quality assessment to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement in data assets.
* Proficiency in SQL for querying and transforming data.
* Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking capability, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, identify issues early, and propose practical solutions.
* Proficiency in SQL for querying and transforming data, with experience in Python and Microsoft Fabric Notebooks being highly desirable.
* Experience with ETL/ELT processes and tools, particularly in environments with low data maturity.
* Understanding of data governance and metadata management practices, with the ability to implement foundational standards and processes.
