About the Role
In this dynamic role, you'll work across multiple project teams to ensure safety standards are consistently upheld. You'll take an active, hands‐on approach to supporting teams, advising on safety matters and ensuring compliance with legislation and industry standards.
You will be responsible for driving a safety culture across designated projects. You will work closely with various project teams to ensure all safety matters are coordinated on-site. You will:
* Champion Manteena's values by consistently demonstrating our expected behaviours in every interaction, both on-site and in the office.
* Partner with project and site teams to embed safety requirements into daily operations while fostering strong, positive working relationships.
* Assess and verify contractor compliance with Manteena's safety systems, including SWMS, plant and equipment documentation, SDS, and project-specific safety plans.
* Maintain and actively monitor safety systems and procedures across all project sites to ensure they remain effective and up to date.
* Support the appointment and onboarding of Health and Safety Representatives across Manteena sites.
* Identify, evaluate, and document operational risks using Manteena's established risk and compliance frameworks.
* Contribute to internal and external WHS audits, working closely with the Safety Manager to address findings and drive continuous improvement.
* Conduct regular audits of Manteena and subcontractor systems to ensure ongoing compliance and best‐practice safety performance.
* Apply sound operational understanding of key regulatory bodies (including ABCC and OFSC) to ensure project compliance with all relevant requirements.
* Escalate safety concerns appropriately to the Safety Manager, ISM, or Operations Manager to promote timely resolution.
* Ensure prompt and accurate reporting and investigation of WHS incidents in line with legal obligations and Manteena standards.
About You
You are a confident communicator who can build trust, influence behaviour and support teams at all levels. You're organised, proactive and passionate about building safer workplaces.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
* Minimum 3 years' WHS experience in a construction environment
* Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or higher)
* Construction White Card
* ACT Asbestos Awareness and Silica Awareness
* First Aid certificate
* Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
* Valid driver's licence and your own vehicle
* Strong understanding of WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and relevant Australian Standards
* Experience with WHS accreditation programs (e.g., OFSC)
* Proficiency in Office 365
* Ability or willingness to obtain and maintain a security clearance and WWVP card
* Excellent communication, relationship‐building and problem‐solving skills
