Reporting to the Manager – Health Safety Environment and Community this role will see you provide effective leadership and management for the MIM Environment team and functions across Mount Isa Mines and associated leases.
It will be accountable for providing information and advice to the HSEC Leadership Team on all matters relating to Environment whilst ensuring effective interaction with the broader asset and regional HSEC teams.Responsibilities include (however not limited to):Lead MIM's 16 environment professionals to deliver on business plans, maintain compliance with internal and statutory obligations and effectively manage environment risksEnsure Environmental Authority obligations are known and understood, operational support is effective and compliance with environmental programs maintainedEnhance environmental management including air quality control, biodiversity and land management, surface and groundwater managementManage environmental compliance, reporting and statutory investigations to facilitate pragmatic outcomes based on sound risk management, robust science and influential relationshipsEnsure consistent high standard of regulatory communication across MIM including notifications, reporting and assessments, enforcement related correspondence and verbal correspondenceContinuous improvement in environmental management and systems including utilising and improving the analytical functions of our HSEC databases and associated tools and processesDevelop and utilise team members through the implementation of clear responsibilities, development plans, performance management and succession planningEnsure the provision of a safe working environment by the implementation of and adherence to HSEC policies and proceduresEnsure prudent and responsible cost management of Opex and CapexAbout You:Bachelor of Environmental Science or similar8+ years' experience in an environmental field within the mining industry5+ years' experience in a leadership roleProficient in Microsoft package including Powerpoint and Project, and data base management systemsHighly effective written and verbal communication skills which can be effectively applied across all levels of the business and external and regulatory stakeholders with the ability to collaborate across departmental boundaries and achieve resultsStrong problem solving and critical thinking skills and an authentic commitment to improving HSEC outcomesAs a staff employee of Glencore, you are entitled to a comprehensive range of benefits aimed at attracting and retaining our people.
