Job Advert – Qualified Electrician

An exciting career awaits you at ASC, Australia's submarine company - the sustainer of Australia's conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines in the AUKUS partnership. To deliver on this new and exciting work, we are seeking skilled trades individuals to undertake long-term, world-leading training in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S.
We have various Electrical placements available in July 2026 and August 2026 and will be between 18 - 24 months in duration.
Electrician (Generator & Motor Repairs) Responsibilities;
* Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems by testing, troubleshooting, and modifying circuits and components. Operate and calibrate precision test equipment, analyse signals and waveforms, interpret technical documentation, and maintain accurate calibration and certification records to meet strict tolerances.
Electronics Technician (Communication & Electronics) Responsibilities;
* Maintain and repair communications and sensor systems across RF, microwave, radar, sonar, and fibre‑optic platforms, diagnosing faults, servicing components and cabling, and testing antenna and RF systems to ensure reliable operation in harsh environments.
Calibration Technician Responsibilities;
* Calibrate and repair electrical, electronic, and mechanical TMDE, performing on‑site instrument calibration, fault diagnosis, and equipment servicing while maintaining ISO/NIST‑compliant records and certifications.
Eligibility Criteria
The successful applicant must possess:
* Australian Citizenship
* Minimum an Australian Credited Certificate III Electronics and Communications, Electrotechnology or equivalent
* Unrestricted WA Electrical license (mandatory)
* Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role
* Experience in the maintenance and repair of PLCs, circuit cards, control circuitry
* An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance
Additional Details
During deployment, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training. This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.
At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines. Repatriation to WA is non-negotiable, so please consider this when applying.
Please note: This is a Civilian role and recruitment processes will differ from those undertaken in Active Service Defence recruitment.
