 
        
        Our client is adding to an established project delivery team to execute improvement and sustaining capital works to an operating chemical processing plant.
The successful candidate will work closely with the production, maintenance, process engineering, and procurement teams as well as a network of established contract service providers to deliver projects safely, on schedule and on budget.
Role Details
The SMP Project Engineer will be responsible for all facets of brownfields project delivery, for a portfolio of process plant improvement and structural and bund remediation projects ranging $200k to $1m value requiring concurrent execution.
After reviewing the engineering request from internal client, the Project Engineer will complete feasibility studies, submit capital funding applications and develop detailed scopes of works and project management plans.
Once approved the PE is responsible for identifying appropriate execution window with production and maintenance stakeholders, engaging contractor resources to execute and maintaining surveillance on works during execution to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities include:
 * Establishing project controls to manage variations, cost tracking, scheduling, sub-contractor engagement and management.
 * Tracking spend against budget and forecasting future spend profile.
 * Prepare data sheets, specifications, material requisitions, technical bid reviews, vendor data review, as well as coordination with other disciplines for the purchasing and integration of new equipment into the overall plant design.
 * Plan and schedule installation activities.
 * Engage external or internal drafting resources and undertake engineering checks of drawings and calculations.
 * Assist, as required, with the commissioning of new process plant installations.
 * Raising and managing investigation and closeout of safety incident reports and quality non-conformance reports.
Profile
Key Skills include:
 * Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical/Structural/Materials/Corrosion Engineering or significant experience within structural remediation work programs.
 * Experience in managing site contractors.
 * Have worked as an engineer in a relevant industry (Oil & Gas, Chemical, Mining, Water/Wastewater).
 * Ability to prioritise tasks and work to meet multiple deadlines
 * Minimum of 8 years relevant experience with structural, mechanical (inc tanks and pressure vessels) and piping fabrication and installations in compliance with relevant Australian, ASME and API standards.
 * Familiar with QA/QC systems and procedures.
Recognised coating and welding inspection qualifications will be viewed extremely favorably - NACE, CSWIP etc.
