About the Role
As Laboratory Manager, you will oversee the full scope of laboratory operations – from chemical and microbiological analysis to equipment maintenance and compliance management. You'll play a critical role in guiding winemaking decisions by ensuring accurate, timely and reliable data during both vintage and non-vintage periods.
Working closely with our Winemaking, Cellar and Maintenance teams, you'll also lead and mentor laboratory staff, fostering a culture of safety, accuracy and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities Include:
- Managing day-to-day laboratory operations and seasonal demands
- Conducting and overseeing reliability of chemical analysis and microbiological techniques
- Leading, training and mentoring laboratory technicians and seasonal staff
- Maintaining, calibrating and verifying laboratory equipment and instruments
- Developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols
- Solid technical understanding of equipment technology/operation and troubleshooting ability
- Ensuring compliance with HACCP, ISO and Sustainable Winegrowing Australia (SWA) standards
- Manage laboratory budgets, capital projects and equipment procurement.
What You'll Bring:
- Qualifications in Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, Oenology, Food Science or a related field
- 3–5 years' experience in a winery laboratory or similar environment
- Strong understanding of wine chemistry, analysis and microbiology
- Proven leadership experience and ability to mentor and guide others
- Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills
- Proficiency with laboratory software and data management systems
Must Haves:
- Calm under pressure, especially during vintage
- Solid attention to detail with a commitment to quality
- Knowledge of HACCP principles and wine compliance standards
- A problem-solving mindset with initiative and adaptability
- Flexibility to work extended hours during harvest
