About the opportunity

The role of the Work, Health and Safety Officer is to maintain the NSW SES safety management system, implement strategies, policies and operating procedures that support prevention of incidents in accordance with relevant legislation.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

- be adept in accurate record keeping, analysis and reporting WHS performance metrics
- have experience in managing and coordinating investigations of incidents, near misses, and unsafe work conditions, including hazard identification and implementation of risk control measure.
- have experience in maintaining safety management systems, implementing strategies, policies and procedures to create and establish the NSW SES as a safe workplace, compliant with legislative requirements
- demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage and consult with key stakeholders, including Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) to translate WHS performance data into actionable insights, ensure compliance with consultation requirements, and drive continuous improvement of safety programs
- be capable of developing safety strategies and tools, conducting WHS system audits, reviewing results, addressing non-compliance issues, and creating relevant guidance materials
