John Fawkner Private Hospital is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager to join our team in our Emergency department. You will play a key role within a supportive team to ensure our patients have a great experience during their care.

John Fawkner Private Hospital is located in the north west of Melbourne. With 186 registered beds, a 12 cubicle Emergency Department, 4 operating theatres, a 12-bed critical care complex, and a busy Day Procedure Unit, the hospital provides a wide range of services to its community. The hospital specialises in orthopaedics, general surgery, general medicine, oncology, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, ENT, and gynaecology.
As an emergency department Nurse Unit Manager, your responsibilities will include:
1. Providing leadership and direction to the Emergency department team
2. Providing clinical operational direction for the unit to ensure efficient and effective management
3. Coordinating the delivery of evidence-based nursing care
4. Ensuring the delivery of excellent patient and family-centred care in a team-focused environment
5. Providing guidance, mentoring, and support to your team
6. Being accountable for the effective management of human, financial, and material resources
7. Undertaking direct patient care, as required
8. Ensuring compliance with ACQSHC National standards
9. Maintaining current registration with AHPRA
10. Having a Working with Children check
11. Possessing previous experience at NUM level or equivalent
12. Holding a Post Graduate qualification in critical care and experience in a critical care setting
13. Demonstrating a strong commitment to developing in a management role
14. Management degree or working towards (desirable)
15. Demonstrated HR management experience
16. Sound knowledge of labour management
17. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
18. A commitment to high standards of clinical and customer-focused care
19. High computer literacy, including MS Office and various databases
20. Ability to work cohesively within a team environment
