Established in 1923, Hartwigs is an authorised Western Star, MAN, Detroit Engine and Dennis Eagle truck dealership, selling and servicing these industry-leading truck brands across our Shepparton, VIC and Queanbeyan, NSW locations.
We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Diesel Mechanic / Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Technician to join our Shepparton workshop team.
This opportunity is ideal for both school leavers or mature-age (adult) apprentices looking to build a long-term career in the heavy vehicle mechanical trade.
About the apprenticeship
This is a 4-year full-time apprenticeship leading to a nationally recognised qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic.
You will work alongside experienced technicians servicing and repairing a wide range of heavy vehicles, with exposure to major brands including:
* Western Star
* MAN
* Dennis Eagle
* Detroit Engines
Key duties include:
* Assisting qualified diesel mechanics with servicing and repairs
* Learning heavy vehicle diagnostics, maintenance, and repair procedures
* Completing scheduled servicing and general mechanical work
* Maintaining a clean and safe workshop environment
* Progressively developing skills to work independently
You'll receive:
* On-the-job training

In this role you will be working in our state of the art Shepparton, VIC dealership on all makes of trucks, with a particular focus on the brands we formally support including Western Star, MAN, Dennis Eagle & Detroit Engines.
During your apprenticeship, you will be responsible for assisting qualified technicians in service and repair work on heavy vehicles while completing your training. As you develop in this role you will be appropriately exposed to more complex servicing & repair work until you become competent and can easily complete jobs without assistance.

* Good literacy and numeracy skills
Previous experience is not required.
Mature-age (adult) apprentices are encouraged to apply.
