The Role: We are seeking a talented and motivated Structural Engineer to join our Wollongong team in a full-time role. Whether you're a recent graduate eager to launch your career or an experienced professional seeking new challenges, this role provides an exciting opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, including multi-storey Residential and Commercial Buildings; Industrial Structures; Educational Buildings; and Public & Recreational Projects.
You will develop your skills and technical ability to complete engineering analysis and design, as well as liaise with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of all project types.
Key Responsibilities:
* Contribute to innovative structural/civil design solutions for a range of projects.
* Assist with or manage projects from design through to construction, conducting site inspections to ensure seamless project execution (level of responsibility commensurate with experience).
* Collaborate closely with architects, builders, and consultants to ensure designs meet project goals, addressing any queries or requests for information promptly.
* Contribute to a fast-paced environment, often balancing multiple projects at a time.
* Deliver value-managed designs that prioritise efficiency and cost-effectiveness without compromising on quality.
Essential Criteria:
* A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Structural or Civil)
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients, contractors, and the team
* Willingness to learn
* Excellent time management and organisational skills
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
* Enthusiasm to learn and develop professionally
Desirable Criteria:
* Previous experience in Structural Engineering, preferably within a Consulting Engineering Firm
* Experience designing steel structures, reinforced concrete structures, post-tensioned slabs, and timber design
* Familiarity with relevant Codes and Australian Standards
* Experience in reading structural plans and applying them on-site during inspections
* Proficiency in design software (i.e., RAM Concept, RAPT, Tekla Structural Designer, TEDDS, STAADPro, AutoCAD)
* Understanding of engineering analysis and design principles
