Your new opportunity

Queensland Treasury is seeking to appoint two Assistant Under Treasurers in the Energy and Government Owned Corporations (GOCs) Group. Key to the role is your leadership in advising Shareholding Ministers on GOC performance, governance, energy portfolio responsibilities, and implementing the Energy Roadmap. The successful candidate will contribute to delivering government priorities while fostering commercial and economic growth across Queensland.


In This Role, You Will

* Provide high-level strategic advice, analysis, guidance, and advocacy to the Treasurer, Under Treasurer, and Shareholding Ministers on complex energy and GOC-related matters.
* Oversee key aspects of energy policy development, investment, governance, and monitoring to successfully deliver affordable and sustainable energy solutions.
* Drive priorities linked to GOC operations and energy portfolios, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery in alignment with Queensland Government objectives.
* Lead strategies, projects, and programs that strengthen Queensland's economic resilience and future energy sustainability.
* Represent Treasury at high-level negotiations, forums, and consultations with key stakeholders to champion government and energy-related goals.
* Build and lead a collaborative Energy and GOCs team that fosters innovation, integrity, and capability development.
* Maintain and strengthen relationships with diverse stakeholders in GOCs, government agencies, regulated entities, and industry to achieve coordinated solutions for policy, strategy, and energy systems.


What Experience You Will Bring

* Proven leadership in managing and achieving success within large and complex organisations.
* Extensive expertise in economic and fiscal management, including policy development and the delivery of complex frameworks.
* Experience with large-scale project management and innovation in ensuring value for money, contract oversight, and risk mitigation.
* Experience in the energy sector and familiarity with public policy development (highly desirable).
* High-level capability in engaging with complex stakeholders and senior government representatives, demonstrating adept relationship management and strategic implementation abilities.
* Exceptional judgement, political acumen, negotiation, and communication skills to manage challenges effectively in a rapidly changing environment.

Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, relevant qualifications will be highly regarded.
