General Manager - Mid‑Sized Company (Gold Coast)
We are a well‑established, mid‑sized Gold Coast‑based business with operations spanning fund‑raising from investors, construction, and general finance, and managed investment activities. The organisation holds and manages investment structures under an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL).
About the Role
The General Manager will oversee and coordinate the company's construction‑related operations, financial and investment activities, and corporate governance obligations. This role requires a commercially astute leader with hands‑on operational capability, strategic vision, and strong experience across construction, financial management, and AFSL‑related compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, manage, and coordinate all operational functions across construction, finance, and investment areas.
* Oversee project delivery, construction workflows, contractor management, and operational performance.
* Manage the company's investment structures and processes in line with AFSL obligations and regulatory requirements.
* Drive financial planning, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting across all business units.
* Ensure compliance with corporate governance, ASIC, AFSL, WHS, and risk‑management obligations.
* Implement improved systems, controls, and reporting frameworks that support scalability and accountability.
* Build and mentor high‑performing teams across construction, finance, and administrative divisions.
* Work closely with Directors/Board to ensure strategic alignment and transparent communication.
* Identify and execute growth opportunities in construction, project finance, and investment activities.
Key Requirements
* Proven experience as a General Manager, Operations Manager, or Senior Leader in a construction or construction finance environment.
* Background or hands‑on experience in management investment entities, particularly those operating under an AFSL.
* Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, governance, and risk management in both construction and financial services.
* Demonstrated expertise in business planning, budgeting, and financial oversight.
* Ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams and manage multiple business units simultaneously.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
* Strong commercial judgement with a practical, solutions‑focused approach.
* High level of integrity and accountability.
