Senior Recreation Planner - Full time, Permanent
Salary: $121,095 to $136,286 (dependent on skills and experience) + 12% superannuation
About the Role
Join the City of Melbourne to lead the planning and coordination of recreation and community infrastructure projects. In this role you will manage client‐side project delivery, collaborate with internal teams and external partners, and shape inclusive, people‐centred recreation and community spaces.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to strategic planning, policy development and long‐term recreation and community infrastructure planning, particularly in urban renewal areas.
* Lead the coordination and delivery of rehabilitation and community infrastructure projects across all stages of the project life cycle.
* Act as the key client representative, partnering with internal stakeholders and external organisations to deliver high‐quality outcomes.
* Lead meaningful and inclusive community engagement to ensure projects reflect local needs, priorities and aspirations.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with community groups, industry bodies and key stakeholders across Council.
* Support delivery of the ten‐year capital works pipeline and annual planning processes.
* Develop and review business cases, feasibility studies, reports and grant submissions.
* Collaborate across Council divisions and external partners to deliver integrated, people‐centred solutions.
Qualifications
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in recreation planning (or related discipline) and demonstrated experience managing projects from inception to completion.
* Strong stakeholder engagement experience, with the ability to lead community consultation and work collaboratively across diverse stakeholder groups.
* Proven ability to influence, negotiate and build relationships across internal teams, community groups and external partners.
* Experience developing business cases, feasibility studies and strategic reports.
* Sound financial management capability supporting capital works delivery.
* Highly developed communication, facilitation and report‐writing skills.
* Strong analytical and problem‐solving capability, with an ability to balance community needs and strategic priorities.
