Patient Services Assistant (Grade 2)
Location: Colac Area Health Geelong. Salary: AUD 50,000 – 70,000. Employment type: Permanent Part Time; Casual. Job category: Environmental Services – Patient Services Assistant Level 2.
As a BMI Patient Services Assistant (PSA) you will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of patient transport to and from medical imaging at University Hospital Geelong. You may be a qualified PSA or unqualified with a desire to work in or study a healthcare discipline.
Permanent part‐time hours are available for PSAs. Hours may be shared across more than one applicant, with rostered hours across a span of hours which may include weekdays/weekday evenings and weekends. Your role will involve working as part of the PSA team to ensure timely transport of patients from University Hospital Geelong wards, ALCC and Cardiology to and from medical imaging.
Key Responsibilities
* Safely transport patients and equipment across wards, departments, and medical imaging, adhering to patient safety guidelines at all times.
* Assist with patient transfers to and from imaging equipment using approved manual handling (Smart Moves) principles.
* Maintain cleanliness and readiness of all patient transport equipment in line with infection control standards.
* Support department operations by couriering X‐rays, specimens, records, and replenishing stock as required.
* Collaborate within a team to prioritise transport needs across imaging services and perform additional duties as directed.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team to effectively meet patient transport needs across Medical Imaging services.
* Ability and willingness to complete required internal training, including Smart Moves "No Lift" principles.
* Strong patient‐focused approach with the ability to build rapport and communicate effectively.
* Possible requirement for a Working with Children Check (if applicable).
