We are looking for an experienced, driven, and hospitality focused Venue Manager to lead the team at Archers Torquay.

About the Role
As Venue Manager, you will be responsible for the overall performance and day to day operation of the venue, balancing service excellence with strong commercial outcomes. You will lead, mentor, and inspire the team while working closely with ownership to ensure Archers continues to grow and evolve.
Key responsibilities include:
Venue & Service Leadership
* Overseeing all Front of House operations, ensuring consistently high standards of service
* Leading by example on the floor during service, setting the tone for hospitality and professionalism
* Creating exceptional guest experiences and building strong relationships with regulars and new guests
* Handling guest feedback with confidence, care, and professionalism
Team Leadership & Development
* Recruiting, training, rostering, and managing FOH staff
* Building a positive, motivated team culture aligned with the Archers brand
* Coaching and mentoring supervisors and team members, supporting their growth and progression
* Conducting regular training sessions, including wine, service standards, and systems
Food & Wine Program
* Maintaining the quality and integrity of the wine list and beverage offering
* Working closely with suppliers and local producers
* Leading wine education for the team and supporting thoughtful food & wine pairing recommendations
* Ensuring menus are delivered consistently and to a high standard
Operations & Administration
* Managing rosters, wages, and labour costs in line with budgets
* Overseeing stock control, ordering, and inventory management
* Ensuring compliance with RSA, OH&S, and food safety standards
* Managing POS systems, cash handling, and end-of-day procedures
* Maintaining venue presentation, cleanliness, and organisation
Business & Financial Performance
* Driving sales through strong service, events, and promotions
* Monitoring and improving venue performance against KPIs
* Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
* Supporting marketing initiatives, events, and activations
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
* Experienced – 3+ years in hospitality, with at least 1–2 years in a management or senior supervisory role
* Wine-Focused – Strong wine knowledge; WSET certification highly regarded (or willingness to obtain)
* A Natural Leader – Confident, calm, and capable of leading a team in a fast-paced environment
* Highly Organised – Strong planning, time management, and attention to detail
* Hands-On & Guest-Focused – Happy to jump behind the bar, on the floor, or wherever needed
* Commercially Minded – Understands labour, stock control, and venue profitability
* Cocktail & Bar Savvy – Comfortable with cocktails, beer, spirits, and bar operations
* RSA Certified – Current Responsible Service of Alcohol certification
