We are seeking a Technical Business Analyst to join a well-established international insurer at an active point in their transformation journey. This is a hands-on role encompassing a claims automation initiative and a modern data platform launch, working closely with a local SME team and a global technical team. You will be responsible for mapping processes, capturing business and data requirements, and producing documentation that both technical and non-technical teams can act on. The work cuts across underwriting, claims, and finance, so this suits a BA who can step in quickly, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes with confidence. Salary: $120k Super Location: Sydney, NSW 2000 12 month FTC initially Responsibilities Partner with stakeholders to understand business processes, systems, and automation opportunities, documenting current and future state Analyse and document business requirements across multiple functions, ensuring alignment to business and customer needs Translate business needs into clear business, system, and data requirements to support delivery Identify opportunities for automation and AI to improve operational efficiency and outcomes Map end-to-end processes including system interactions, data flows, inputs, outputs, and dependencies Capture data requirements including sources, transformations, and reporting outputs Support data platform and reporting initiatives by defining requirements and aligning with technical teams Review and challenge data models, SQL/dbt logic, and architecture diagrams at a conceptual level Prioritise initiatives based on business value, complexity, and delivery impact Manage multiple workstreams, maintaining strong stakeholder engagement throughout Requirements Strong experience as a Business Analyst in a corporate environment, ideally within insurance or a complex business setting Proven experience working on data platform or data warehouse initiatives as a Technical or Data Business Analyst Strong analytical and structured thinking skills, with the ability to solve complex problems Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into clear system and data requirements Solid understanding of system interactions, integrations, and end-to-end data flows Experience with modern data tooling such as Snowflake (desirable), ELT patterns, and dbt or similar frameworks Familiarity with SQL and ability to interpret and challenge SQL/dbt logic at a conceptual level Understanding of data modelling concepts (facts, dimensions, grain), data pipelines, transformation layers, and data lineage Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences High attention to detail with strong documentation capability Experience working in agile or hybrid delivery environments Benefits Involvement in high-priority projects that directly impacts operational efficiency Opportunity to be part of an AI forward thinking team Exposure to a large-scale international business environment while working in a supportive, team-oriented local culture Does this sound like you?
