Our team is seeking a skilled Art Preparation Specialist to join us in delivering exceptional exhibitions at our arts and libraries facilities. As an integral part of our dynamic Arts & Libraries team, you will play a vital role in the professional handling, installation, and presentation of high-quality artworks.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in exhibition installation, with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Experience with gallery wall preparation, including painting and power tool usage, is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure safe receipt, handling, installation, and de-installation of valuable and fragile artworks to museum and gallery standards.
* Prepare gallery spaces by repairing walls, painting, setting up lighting, AV, and sound equipment.
* Build and maintain exhibition fixtures and supports to meet exhibition requirements.
* Collaborate closely with curators, artists, and guest curators to deliver seamless exhibition installations.
* Maintain workshop and storage areas, ensuring tools and equipment are clean, safe, and well-organized.
Requirements:
* Recognized qualifications or at least 2 years of industry experience in exhibition installation or related fields.
* Current Class C Driver's licence for travel between sites.
* Ability to handle artwork professionally and safely, respecting conservation standards.
* Experience with basic computer skills (Microsoft Office proficiency).
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with empathy and effective communication across diverse clients.
* Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Working Conditions:
You will be required to work a range of shifts between 5am - 9pm across a 7-day spread.
