Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Drainage Foreman role based in Sunshine Coast, QLD. The Drainage Foreman will oversee daily drainage construction activities, including the installation, maintenance, and repair of stormwater and related civil drainage systems on active work sites. Responsibilities include planning and coordinating tasks, allocating labor and equipment, monitoring productivity, and ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, and to specification. The role will supervise site crews, support problem-solving in the field, liaise with project managers and engineers, and maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and site conditions. The Drainage Foreman will also conduct site inspections, enforce safety and quality standards, and assist with training and mentoring team members.
Qualifications
* Strong supervisory skills, including team leadership, task allocation, and mentoring of site crews.
* Proficiency with heavy equipment commonly used in drainage and civil works (e.g., excavators, loaders, compactors), with a focus on safe and efficient operation.
* Effective communication skills for coordinating with crew members, subcontractors, engineers, and project managers, and for completing site documentation.
* Practical carpentry skills beneficial for formwork, minor structures, and temporary works associated with drainage construction.
* Maintenance skills to support basic troubleshooting and upkeep of tools, small plant, and site equipment.
* Proven experience in civil construction, preferably in drainage, stormwater, or utilities installation.
* Solid understanding of WHS requirements, safe work practices, and quality standards on civil construction sites.
* Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, plans, and specifications related to drainage and earthworks.
* Relevant tickets and licenses (e.g., plant operator tickets, construction white card, driver's license); additional machinery tickets are an advantage.
* Physical ability to work in outdoor, site-based environments and adapt to changing site conditions and project priorities.
