The Diabetes & Endocrinology department offers a broad range of endocrinology training and supports two accredited registrar positions. These positions are part of the PMCV Vic/Tas match process, providing trainees with opportunities to develop their skills in managing diabetes and endocrine emergencies.
Trainees will attend onsite ambulatory services, outreach clinics, and specialised clinics at other health services, as well as unit educational meetings. Research activities are supported with access to large databases, including the Geelong Osteoporosis Study and Geelong Bone Density Service.
* Diabetes management in adults
* Pre-conception planning and Diabetes in Pregnancy
* Thyroid disorders
* Metabolic bone disease
* Adrenal disorders
* Other endocrine disorders;
The unit participates in a monthly Multidisciplinary Thyroid Cancer Meeting, twice-weekly clinical teaching, fortnightly Unit Radiology Meeting, and monthly journal club. Opportunities also exist to attend quarterly Paediatric Endocrinology clinics and Fertility clinic.
Research projects can draw data from the Geelong Osteoporosis Study, a population-based cohort study that has been running for 30 years. The Geelong Bone Density databases are also available for interrogation.
To be eligible for this role, applicants must have completed the FRACP Part 1 examination and hold APHRA registration.
