Trip Lengths: Approximately 3 to 8 days at sea per trip departing from various ports along NSW coast, Tasmania and Victoria.
About the Role
Saltwater Endeavours Pty Ltd operates a commercial tuna longline fishing vessel based in Portland, Victoria but fishing NSW, Tasmania and Victorian waters throughout the year. We are seeking experienced and reliable Deck Hands to join our crew.
The roles involve physically demanding work in a marine environment and require a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and vessel operations. Crew are required to be at sea for extended periods during fishing operations and unloads will be in varying ports.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Assisting with setting, hauling, and handling longline fishing gear
* General deck operations including rope and wire handling
* Mooring and berthing assistance
* Cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep of the vessel and deck areas
* Assisting with safe handling and storage of catch
* Compliance with vessel safety procedures, AMSA requirements, and workplace policies
Skills and Experience
* Previous experience as a deck hand or in a commercial fishing or maritime environment preferred
* Physically fit and capable of working in all weather conditions at sea
* Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a small crew
* Commitment to safe work practices
* Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening (if required)

Pay: $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
