About the role:
Our Civil Law Section is dynamic and diverse, providing legal support in areas including police accountability, child protection, adult guardianship, consumer rights, discrimination, tenancy, social security, and victims of crime assistance claims.
As a Client Service Officer (CSO), you’ll be at the heart of our work, supporting clients through their legal journey and ensuring they can engage effectively with their lawyer. You’ll also coordinate and attend remote community civil law clinics, playing a key role in delivering accessible, culturally safe legal services.
Key Responsibilities
* Engage with clients in person and by phone in a culturally appropriate manner
* Support clear communication between clients and lawyers
* Coordinate and attend remote legal service delivery, including travel arrangements
* Maintain accurate client data using our case management systems
* Assist lawyers with administrative tasks and document preparation
* Build strong community and agency networks
* Contribute as a proactive member of a small, dedicated team
What We’re Looking For
* Strong communication skills, especially with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients
* Demonstrated cultural competency or lived experience
* Experience in a busy office environment (phones, Microsoft Office, data entry)
* High-level client service skills
* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
* Current driver’s licence and ability to obtain a Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card)
* Satisfactory criminal history check
