Statement of Duties – Fitting Carpenter
The Fitting Carpenter plays a vital role in Luxcom’s construction and renovation projects, performing precision installation, assembly, and finishing of timber structures, cabinetry, fittings, and fixtures. This position demands a high level of craftsmanship, accuracy, and adherence to safety and quality standards to ensure projects are completed to Luxcom’s expectations and client satisfaction.
The Fitting Carpenter will collaborate closely with Site Supervisors, Project Managers, and other trades to interpret drawings, perform fit-out works, and deliver superior finishes on both residential and commercial projects.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Trade qualification in Carpentry or Certificate III in Carpentry (or equivalent).
- Proven experience as a fitting or finishing carpenter in residential or commercial construction.
- Strong ability to read and interpret detailed construction and joinery drawings.
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools for precise fitting, cutting, and finishing.
- Knowledge of various materials including timber, MDF, veneer, and composite products.
- Understanding of Australian building codes, standards, and WHS regulations.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good physical fitness and manual dexterity.
- Valid White Card and driver’s licence (Forklift Licence advantageous).
- First Aid or Working at Heights certification is desirable.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Installation & Assembly – Install, fit, and assemble joinery components, cabinetry, skirtings, architraves, doors, and other timber fixtures according to design specifications.
2. Measurement & Preparation – Measure, mark, and prepare materials accurately to ensure proper alignment and secure installation.
3. Finishing Works – Perform fine finishing tasks such as sanding, trimming, and detailing to deliver premium-quality results.
4. Repair & Maintenance – Repair or replace existing fittings and fixtures as required, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
5. Quality Control – Inspect materials and completed work to maintain Luxcom’s high standards and client expectations.
6. Safety & Compliance – Follow all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and maintain a clean, organised, and hazard‑free workspace.
7. Collaboration – Work closely with other trades, site supervisors, and project managers to coordinate daily activities and meet project timelines.
8. Tool & Material Management – Maintain tools and equipment in secure working condition and ensure correct use of company materials.
9. Documentation & Reporting – Record daily work activities, report issues promptly, and provide updates to the Site Supervisor.
10. Continuous Improvement – Support Luxcom’s culture of safety, teamwork, and excellence by adhering to company standards and procedures.
