Wilson Diesel Services is a family-owned mechanical business based in the Northern Territory, supporting mining, civil and corporate fleets across the Barkly. Our Light Vehicle workshop continues to grow, and with consistent work coming in we are looking to appoint two experienced Light Vehicle Leading Hands to work back-to-back and take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the workshop.
This is a practical leadership role suited to someone who enjoys being on the tools while supervising a team, maintaining standards, and keeping work moving efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading by example with hands-on mechanical work
* Supervising daily Light Vehicle workshop operations
* Allocating jobs and coordinating mechanics, apprentices and trade assistants
* Supporting recruitment, onboarding and general workforce management
* Diagnosing, repairing and servicing:
* Corporate fleets
* Mine-spec vehicles
* 4x4s and general customer vehicles
* Ensuring WHS compliance, site requirements and quality workmanship
* Managing parts, stock, consumables and inventory
* Improving workflow, productivity and workshop efficiency
* Mentoring apprentices and supporting skills development
* Maintaining accurate job cards, service records and compliance documentation
About You
* Trade Qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic
* Minimum 2 years' experience as a Leading Hand, Supervisor, or Senior Mechanic
* Strong diagnostic and repair skills across a range of makes and models
* Good organisational and job-planning skills
* Confident communicator with the ability to work with clients and staff
* Experience managing parts, stock and consumables
* Current C-Class driver's licence
Territory experience and an understanding of regional work environments will be highly regarded.

* Up to $65 per hour + Superannuation (rate based on experience)
* Guaranteed hours – 10-hour days
* Flexible roster options, including 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off by agreement
