About the Client
Our client is a national professional services business operating across the commercial and industrial sector. They partner with large, complex organisations to deliver a defined suite of practical, value-driven solutions, focused on cost outcomes, supplier optimisation and commercial leverage. The business has an established and growing C&I customer base, including large national operators across logistics, manufacturing and energy. With strong existing contracts in place, they are now looking to appoint a highly commercial Business Development Manager to drive new opportunities while managing and growing current relationships.
About the Position
This role is a blend of new business development and commercial account management. You will be responsible for following up existing opportunities, proactive outbound activity and managing key customer contracts, all while driving commercial outcomes aligned to budget and rebate performance. The role suits someone with a natural hunting mindset who can operate autonomously, engage senior decision-makers, and confidently manage conversations that are numbers-driven and outcome-focused.
* Driving new business through proactive outreach, follow-up and cold calling within the C&I customer base.
* Managing and growing existing customer contracts, ensuring commercial performance and long-term value.
* Selling a defined suite of commercial and operational solutions, focusing on solving customer drivers rather than product pushing.
* Building senior relationships at Group Procurement Manager and Group General Manager level.
* Owning key KPIs across C&I budget performance, innovation outcomes and the creation of effective project teams.
* Managing and delivering against rebate budgets, with a clear focus on commercial discipline and results.
* Working collaboratively across internal teams to deliver outcomes and maintain strong customer alignment.
About You
You are sophisticated, commercially sharp and comfortable operating in a performance-driven environment. You don't need to be directed and are confident taking ownership of your patch, your numbers and your relationships. You will ideally bring:
* Proven experience in business development or commercial roles within the C&I sector, selling solutions, items or hardware to a similar customer base.
* A strong hunting mindset, balanced with the ability to manage and grow existing contracts.
* Demonstrated experience managing budgets, rebates or commercially driven KPIs.
* The confidence to engage senior stakeholders and uplift relationships through clear commercial value.
* A self-starter mentality, with the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
* A track record of delivery, with clear examples of outcomes you've driven rather than just activity.
