We are a locally operated business in Alice Springs, providing reliable rental services across the NT and Tasmania. We are expanding our team and seeking skilled and experienced professionals for the following full-time positions: Vehicle Painter (Full-Time).
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicle panels by removing rough spots and imperfections using hand tools or mechanical methods.
- Mask areas of vehicles not requiring paint using tape, plastic, or masking paper.
- Mix and apply paints to vehicles using spray guns and other painting equipment.
- Sand surfaces between coats to ensure smooth, high-quality finishes.
- Perform touch-ups and blending for a high-quality finish.
- Apply rust-proofing treatments to vehicle bodies as required.
- Paint signage, decals, or custom artwork on vehicles when requested.
- Assess and repair damage to metal, fibreglass, and plastic body panels on vehicles.
- Remove, repair, or replace damaged vehicle panels using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Reshape and align panels to restore original vehicle contours and structural integrity.
- Weld and fabricate replacement parts where necessary.
- Grind, sand, and fill repaired surfaces to prepare them for painting.
- Fit and secure new panels, trims, and body components in line with manufacturer specifications.
- Work with spray painters to ensure smooth handover of prepped surfaces.
- Ensure all repairs comply with safety standards and workshop quality requirements.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing Technology or similar.
- Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in automotive painting.
- Attention to detail and strong understanding of color matching.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with modern painting techniques and materials.
- Certificate III in Automotive Body Repair Technology or similar.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant panel beating experience.
- Proficiency in using panel repair tools and machinery.
- Strong understanding of vehicle body structures.
- Commitment to quality workmanship and safety protocols.
