JOB TITLE: Manager of Quality
Job Summary:
The Director of Quality is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring full compliance with AS9100 standards, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations. This role is critical in maintaining the highest standards of product quality and supporting the company's continuous improvement goals. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with at least 10 years of experience in the aerospace, defense, or related industries, strong auditing experience, and active Security Clearance is a MUST.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and Implement Quality Standards:
Lead the creation, documentation, and implementation of AS9100 manuals and standards. Guide the organization through successful AS9100 audits and third-party certifications.
* Security and Compliance:
Must hold an active U.S. Government Security Clearance. Ensure quality processes align with all applicable security, ITAR, and export control regulations.
* Customer Satisfaction:
Monitor and ensure compliance with customer-specific quality requirements. Address and resolve quality issues quickly to maintain excellent customer relations.
* Internal Quality Management:
Oversee all internal quality processes, ensuring documentation and procedures meet company and industry standards. Lead internal audits, corrective actions, and quality reviews.
* Regulatory and Export Compliance:
Maintain a strong understanding of U.S. Government contract requirements and international export regulations. Ensure adherence to ITAR and other applicable compliance standards.
* Corrective and Preventive Actions:
Drive root cause analysis, implement corrective and preventive measures, and lead problem-solving initiatives to reduce nonconformities and improve process reliability.
* Vendor Quality Management:
Evaluate and oversee supplier quality performance. Collaborate with vendors and purchasing to resolve quality issues and ensure supply chain compliance.
* Audit and Reporting:
Conduct and manage internal audits. Prepare detailed reports on product performance, defect rates, and audit findings. Ensure compliance with GIDEP and other defense-related contractual obligations.
* Continuous Improvement:
Promote a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging Six Sigma or similar methodologies. Lead initiatives to optimize processes and enhance quality outcomes.
* Equipment and Asset Management:
Oversee the calibration program for inspection equipment and maintain property control systems for company and government-owned assets.
Required Qualifications:
* Must have an active U.S. Government Security Clearance.
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in aerospace, defense, or a related industry, preferably in a quality leadership role.
* Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field .
* Experience supervising or leading inspection or quality teams.
* Strong background in AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality systems and audits.
* Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt) .
* Demonstrated success in leading audits and achieving third-party certification.
* Hands-on knowledge of ITAR compliance, engineering drawings, inspection tools, and military specifications.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with customers.
* Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, deliver results under pressure, and foster a culture of quality and accountability.
