Fire Safety Specialist

This is a casual, flexible role that plays a vital part in maintaining community safety and emergency preparedness in Queensland.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services agency ensures the well-being of people and property across the state through prevention, preparation, response, and recovery efforts in various emergency situations.

The agency comprises the Fire and Rescue Service, Rural Fire Service, and State Emergency Service, supporting other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.


Purpose of the Role

The agency's functions are unique as it provides high-quality fire, rescue, emergency, and disaster management services through a single entity. This collaborative approach across the service and with key stakeholders delivers improved safety outcomes for the community.


Key Responsibilities

* Respond to fire and other emergency incidents.
* Promote community safety and emergency preparedness by participating in community education activities.
* Develop and maintain competencies by engaging in regular drills and relevant training courses provided by the agency to ensure safety and effectiveness on the fire ground.
* Maintain attendance standards for emergency incidents and training.
* Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment safely and effectively.
* Contribute to station upkeep and hygiene.
* Ensure maintenance and repair of operational equipment and station facilities.
* Support incident reporting and general station administration as needed.


Essential Skills and Qualifications

* Eligibility to apply for or hold a current Blue Card.
* Employer consent to attend incidents and emergencies (where applicable).
* Australian Permanent Resident Status.
* Manual C Class driver's license.
