Overview
The North West Regional Hospital, the third largest hospital in Tasmania, serves the northwest region with a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services. The medical ward consists of approximately 50 beds across three units (Medical, Med C, and AMU). The surgical ward offers emergency and elective orthopaedic, general surgical, ENT, and gynaecological services. All services within NWRH work closely together to deliver excellence in healthcare, aiming to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, workforce, and the wider Tasmanian community.
The Role
The Enrolled Nurse provides direct patient/client centred nursing care to assigned patients/clients, within the scope of practice of an enrolled nurse and under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse/midwife to achieve planned patient outcomes. This position is located on the medical ward, and the successful applicant will participate in the Enrolled Nurse Transition to Practice which is designed to support recently graduated ENs with less than 6 months acute nursing experience.

- Demonstrated assessment, problem solving and organisational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as member of a multidisciplinary team
Eligibility and Selection
Please note this recruitment pertains to current 2025 vacancies only. A separate recruitment campaign will be run for the 2026 Transition Program over the coming months. Specific business rules will apply in both circumstances.

Details of appointment
Fixed term, part time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working up to 64 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreeable date for a 12 month period. Hours are negotiable with the successful applicant. Applicants should note that for twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar vacancies.
Salary and benefits
Salary: $70,980 to $78,179 pro rata per annum. Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Salary packaging is available for a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year, plus other benefits if eligible. Salary range is in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Additional allowances may be available, including Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type. Eligibility
Essential criteria:
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as an Enrolled Nurse
- Current Driver’s Licence (Community Nurse positions only)
Desirable criteria for Transition to Practice Program:
- Less than six months experience (since date of initial registration) as an enrolled nurse
- Less than two years since completion of Enrolled Nurse qualifications for registration
