Manage the delivery and commissioning of a new hospital.
Your new company
Our client is a large public community healthcare provider requiring an experienced client-side Project Manager with Mechanical or Electrical qualifications to join the team to assist with managing and progressing several high-risk and high value projects across their main brownfield site. Requiring a technically astute and motivated professional with immediate availability, this initial short-term assignment offers the opportunity to work on an array of challenging and interesting projects in a live environment at a time of organisational growth. This position requires 4 days on site.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in project management and/or construction-related disciplines, along with demonstrated experience in leading complex projects. Backgrounds in health or government sectors will be viewed favourably.
Your new role
In this role, you'll serve as the primary point of contact between external project leads, internal stakeholders, and the broader delivery team. You'll be responsible for managing procurement processes and coordinating organisational activities throughout the construction and commissioning phases. This client-side position is ideal for a proactive and enthusiastic professional who enjoys working collaboratively and is passionate about contributing to meaningful infrastructure outcomes. You'll play a key role in establishing a brand-new community hospital that will support the delivery of high-quality care.
You act as the primary day-to-day contact for all interface activities, ensuring smooth coordination across stakeholders. You monitor project timelines, budgets, and risk profiles, providing regular updates to support informed decision-making. You lead procurement processes and stakeholder engagement efforts, ensuring alignment and progress throughout the project lifecycle.
- Managing a range of end-to-end projects at different stages, including BMS system upgrades, fire safety, chiller, and boiler room project upgrades to the value of $8million
- Establishing strong relationships across the organisation and liaising with relevant stakeholders and suppliers
- Supervising & liaising with specialist consultants and trades
- Budgeting and providing regular status updates to management
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will be confident in meeting the technical requirements of the role and approach challenges with a positive, proactive attitude. You will bring qualifications, experience, or a strong interest in healthcare design and infrastructure within the construction sector. Your communication style is compassionate and respectful, helping you build constructive and professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
You have demonstrated experience across key support functions, including project administration, FF&E; specification and procurement, ICT infrastructure coordination, progress monitoring and reporting, commissioning of infrastructure, and managing claims and acquittals. You will also hold:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Experience in a similar role in government, healthcare, hospitals, or aged care
- Experience of working in and delivering projects in a live environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with a range of department representatives and stakeholders
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, and ability to adapt, be agile, and come in with a motivated attitude!
