Position Overview
Adelaide University and the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) are seeking an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist for a joint academic and clinical appointment within the Discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The role is based at the Lyell McEwin Hospital, full‐time, 5‐year fixed‐term contract, salary range $168,146–$215,774 plus clinical loading and 17% super.
Academic Responsibilities – Adelaide University
* Foster and lead research within the discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
* Teach and supervise students in the medical programmes
* Provide leadership for supervision, teaching and curriculum development for the medical programmes
* Provide leadership in the development of interprofessional learning
* Commit to the strategic plans of the university and college
* Liaise and communicate with relevant sections of the community, professional associations and government organisations
Clinical Responsibilities – Northern Adelaide Local Health Network
* Provide an effective and efficient medical service in line with the objectives and philosophies of the hospital
* Provision of medical care to inpatients and outpatients, including outpatient clinics, inpatient ward rounds and theatre sessions
* Meet service requirements of NALHN in general and high‐risk obstetric or gynaecology care, including participation in after‐hours on‐call roster
* Provide training and supervision to undergraduate and postgraduate medical trainees in the Women and Children's Division
* Encourage and support multidisciplinary teamwork for optimal clinical service outcomes
* Participate in continuing professional development activities and clinical meetings of the hospital
* Adhere to policies, protocols and procedures to ensure a high standard of medical practice
* Contribute policy advice and evidence‐based practices in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
* Represent the department and the hospital at community, inter‐hospital, regional and state fora as required
* Participate in quality, safety and clinical risk management activities
* Contribute to clinical review programmes to monitor standards of practice and maintain quality outcomes
Qualifications and Experience
* Registration as a medical practitioner and specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist with AHPRA
* FRANZCOG (or equivalent)
* Experience in conducting high‐quality research in a recognised area of strength within Obstetrics & Gynaecology
* Experience leading a grant‐funded research programme, evidenced by major national and other grant funding, a strong publication record in high‐impact journals, international and national collaborations, and invited conference presentations
* Evidence of effective research training, including supervision of honours and postgraduate students
* Demonstrated capacity to provide high‐level policy advice and leadership in women's health
* Evidence of high‐level expertise in teaching medical students in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, including curriculum development experience
* High‐level experience in Obstetrics and/or Gynaecological clinical practice
* Evidence of successful administration and leadership experience
