About Our Carer Support Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Carer Advocate to develop and maintain an exceptional program of carer support. This will involve providing information, education, advocacy, individual and peer support to relatives and friends of people with mental illness (carers).
This role operates locally as self-organised teams - called Recovery 2gether teams. Team members are collectively responsible and accountable for delivering high-quality care and services to:
* People we support (e.g. clients, consumers, family and carers) and
* team tasks.
To succeed in this role, we are looking for individuals with:
1. Experience in working with families and carers and/or people with a mental illness
2. Relevant qualifications in Cert IV in Mental Health or Community Services or equivalent experience
3. Experience working within the community development framework
4. Lived experience of caring for someone with mental health challenges
5. The ability to provide one on one individualized support sessions that respond to the needs of carers and their families
6. Ensure that families and carers have access to education and training opportunities and increased awareness relating to their caring role
