Opportunity We are seeking an experienced General Counsel to join our team on a full-time basis. This role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. This is a senior role where you will operate as the primary legal advisor to the business. Working closely with executive leadership, you will provide strategic legal advice while leading corporate governance functions. You will play a key role in supporting business growth, managing risk and ensuring compliance, while acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders across the organisation.
What You Will Be Doing
Providing strategic legal and commercial advice across a broad range of matters
Leading contract negotiation and review for clients, suppliers and sub-consultants
Supporting board and committee governance requirements
Managing corporate governance frameworks, policies and statutory compliance
Overseeing regulatory reporting and maintaining company registers
Advising on risk management, compliance and business initiatives
Supporting senior leaders with decision‑making on complex commercial matters
Driving legal process improvements, including the use of technology and AI‑enabled tools
Collaborating with internal teams including finance, tax, insurance, people and safety
What We Are Looking For
10+ years post‑admission experience in commercial or corporate law
Admitted to practice law in Australia
Demonstrated experience in company secretarial and governance responsibilities
Strong background in contract law and commercial advisory
Proven ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders
Excellent judgement, communication and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Experience within consulting, engineering or professional services highly regarded
