Staff Specialist in Neurology (Cognitive Services) - John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle, NSW

Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality inpatient neurology and stroke care, including participation in general neurology and acute stroke after-hours on-call rosters.
Lead the assessment and management of cognitive and neuropsychiatric disorders.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, Neuropsychology, and Geriatrics.
Contribute to the development and restructuring of cognitive services at John Hunter Hospital.
Drive innovation through outcome-based data and best practice principles, fostering a values-driven culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Primary medical degree registered with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (Neurology).
Accredited training and experience in Adult Neurology (including Stroke), with substantive experience in acute reperfusion therapy.
Recent and comprehensive experience in cognitive neurology; an interest in neuropsychiatry is highly desirable.

Our Neurology Department is renowned for its academic and research excellence, particularly in stroke and multiple sclerosis. We offer a range of busy clinical subspecialty units including Stroke, Movement Disorders, Multiple Sclerosis/Neuroimmunology, Vestibular Disorders, and General Neurology.
