Reporting to the divisional CEO, you will lead and develop the finance portfolio while partnering closely with clinical and operational leaders to drive sustainable outcomes aligned to organisational strategy.Key responsibilities include oversight of financial performance, budget management, and productivity monitoring; establishing effective reporting and governance frameworks; and managing service delivery between the SJG Ballarat/Warrnambool Hospitals and Group Finance Shared Services. You will foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and informed decision‐making, ensuring performance expectations are clearly visible and proactively addressed.**The Position*** Monitor productivity and performance on a daily, weekly, fortnightly, and ongoing basis to ensure compliance with agreed budgeted measures. Engage with departmental managers and Divisional Management Committee (DMC) members where performance does not meet expectations and actively inform the Divisional CEO of ongoing performance shortfalls.* Ensure there is an appropriate platform (structure/reporting/processes) for performance management and improvement within the Division. Ensure that the reporting implemented aligns to requirements for both the Director of Finance & Performance Hospitals and Group Finance.* Work with the DMC members, Divisional managers and Director of Finance & Performance Hospitals to actively align with current activity and resourcing, and to develop and deliver initiatives to improve financial performance. Ensure that regular reporting of forward activity is also communicated to DMC and relevant departmental managers (see 2.3 Forecasting below).* Follow up on month end financial performance outcomes with DMC members and ensure that appropriate action plans are developed and followed through for their areas of responsibility. Any ongoing performance issues to be notified to the Divisional CEO and the Director of Finance & Performance Hospitals.* Proactively inform the DMC, the Director of Finance & Performance Hospitals, and Group Finance of any material Divisional performance issues as they arise together with strategies to improve.* Develop, maintain, and regularly report against performance improvement strategies at a Divisional reporting level, providing regular updates in respect of progress.* Benchmark the Division’s financial performance within SJGHC, the Catholic health sector and the broader health industry to understand comparability of KPI’s and make recommendations regarding structure, process, and performance improvement.* Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts including commentary for variances under/over 5% as required. Reporting should include to Hospital DMC, the Director of Finance & Performance Hospitals, and Group Finance.* Alert DMC of the Division’s weekly forecast position and recommend strategies to improve financial performance to the Divisional CEO.* Manage the Hospital’s Finance function to ensure all strategies, objectives and actions of the Divisional Operating Plan for the finance portfolio are implemented.* Review the Division’s monthly financial results and ensure that the monthly financials (profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow) are reported accurately to the DMC, the Director of Finance & Performance Hospitals and Group Finance and in accordance with Group Finance accounting policy. This includes all activity drivers and other key performance indicators /measures.You will hold a tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce or Business and be a member of CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (ICAA/CA ANZ). You will bring proven senior financial management experience at an appropriate level, ideally within a complex or regulated environment, and demonstrate the capability to lead people, influence outcomes and drive performance.To succeed, you will demonstrate strong conceptual and analytical capability, enabling you to identify financial issues, risks and opportunities for improvement across a complex service environment. You will have the ability to guide and advise the CEO and Executive team on detailed financial performance matters, including trend analysis, translating insights into clear recommendations that support performance optimisation and sound decision‐making.You will also bring extensive experience in accounting and financial management, including proven skills in financial modelling, facilitation and negotiation.
