Overview
Senior Civil Engineer/ Design Manager, Water Utilities at WSP in Australia. This role supports the Logan Water Partnership, delivering planning, design, construction, and commissioning for Logan's water, wastewater, and recycled water network and treatment assets. The role involves working across water and sewerage infrastructure including trunk mains, pump stations, rising mains, reservoirs, and facility assets, contributing to both concept and detailed design of projects within Logan's capital works program.
Responsibilities
* Manage and deliver feasibility and detailed design projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards
* Lead and participate in POAR and Safety in Design processes
* Undertake options analysis and develop recommended solutions
* Coordinate and deliver all aspects of design including investigations, drawings, construction and commissioning support
* Conduct technical and quality reviews of deliverables
* Develop and manage project estimates, budgets, and resource forecasts
* Report on project performance and proactively address risks and issues
* Promote a collaborative, value-for-money, and safety-first culture
* Mentor and coach team members to support capability development
* Prepare calculations and modelling to support design development
* Support site investigations, commissioning, and validation of as-constructed works
* Participate in continuous improvement and innovation initiatives
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor of Engineering (Civil preferred)
* CPEng and RPEQ preferred
* Project management training preferred
* 5 to 15 years' engineering experience with water/wastewater infrastructure
* Knowledge of gravity and pressure water and wastewater systems
* Experience with pumping stations, including interpreting pumping curves and selecting pumps
* Ability to manage the design process through feasibility, concept, and detailed design
* Experience managing multidisciplinary teams of engineers and drafters
* Strong communication and report writing skills
* Proven design and project management capabilities
* Effective planning and prioritisation skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on practical and innovative solutions
* Understanding of budget and time constraints
* Demonstrated ability to build relationships with key stakeholders
* Ability to review and improve processes and streamline activities
