The Opportunity
Our Springhill – Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Technician in our Paint and Finishing Maintenance team based in Springhill – Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
In this hands‐on position, you will ensure that equipment is maintained to the highest standards to meet our objectives for safety, quality, and reliability. You will apply your mechanical fitting skills and experience to complete both complex and routine maintenance tasks, with a focus on improving our equipment performance and reliability by understanding plant and equipment condition and then implementing corrective actions to restore as required.
What will you do?
* Isolate equipment and perform preventative and corrective maintenance.
* Inspect production and quality‐critical equipment and fault‐find.
* Resolve issues and fix any non‐conformances.
* Seek ways to continuously improve our maintenance practices and strategies.
* Provide supply, stock and purchase requisitions, schedules, work orders, and parts listing via the computerised maintenance management system (SAP).
* Act as supervisor when the maintenance coordinator is on leave.

* Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment conducting a maintenance function.
* Experience working both independently and as part of a manufacturing team.
* Willingness to learn our computerised maintenance systems.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
