This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2026

Ready to lead, inspire, and make a lasting impact on students' learning? Step up as our Head of Instruction – English and help shape the future of English education at Narrogin Senior High School.

Key Responsibilities

* In collaboration with the Principal and members of the administrative team, the Head of Instruction - English will provide educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school vision, and encouraging school staff, volunteers from the community and others to share ownership of the school's vision and goals.
* Use the operational plan and effective change strategies, leads the school community to accept and develop opportunities for improved service in the area of student support services
* Facilitate workforce effectiveness and provides a role model for self-development to improve professional performance
* Contribute to the development of the school plan through participative decision making, including assisting in developing policy and establishing and maintaining systems
* Establishes and manages administrative and operational systems in the relevant area of responsibility to ensure the effective operation of the school within departmental policy and guidelines
* Manage programs, curriculum areas and/or portfolios relating to:
o Positive behaviour
o Effective teaching
o Strong attendance
o Personalised learning
* Undertake administrative duties related to the particular area of responsibility
* Is accountable for the effective daily management of a designated area of responsibility
* Liaises extensively with the Principal, Associate Principal, Deputy Principals and relevant specialist staff
* Establish and maintains effective working relationships with students' family and internal and external stakeholders
* Undertake a teaching role, as required
* Monitor and manage staff leave entitlements to ensure accrued leave is cleared within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with relevant awards, agreements and Departmental policy
* Manage staff performance in accordance with the Public Sector Performance Management Standard and Departmental policy

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Narrogin Senior High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

* be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.

* consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
