We're looking for a proactive, relationship-driven professional to lead procurement initiatives that streamline processes and deliver best-practice solutions. You'll build strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate great commercial outcomes, and drive continuous improvement across procurement processes.
About the Role
This fixed-term position (6–12 months with potential to go permanent) offers an exciting opportunity to lead procurement strategies that enhance efficiency, compliance, and cost-effectiveness across our hospital operations. The role involves reviewing and implementing procurement policies, conducting robust stock analysis, and driving process improvement plans. Working closely with clinical teams, you will ensure product standardisation, maintain approved supplier relationships, and deliver strategic solutions that support exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
* Proficient in negotiating and streamlining product ordering and supply chain to deliver value for money.
* Oversee opportunities to reduce duplication and align to best-practice ordering processes across departments.
* Review and implement policies to ensure compliance with hospital standards and regulatory requirements.
* Undertake robust review of stock ordering and implement a process improvement plan for greater efficiency.
* Develop and maintain an Approved Product List (APL) for routine purchases.
* Collaborate with clinical teams to gain consensus on standard product selections.
* Identify and manage relationships with approved vendors, negotiating contracts and delivery terms.
* Supervise Stores Operations- Oversee inventory management, stock control, and ensure timely availability of medical supplies and equipment.
* Present cost-benefit and clinical equivalency reports to support decision-making.
What We're Looking For
* Medical Industry Experience: Prior experience in the medical or healthcare sector is essential.
* Strong Negotiation and Conflict Resolution Skills: Ability to streamline procurement processes and resolve disputes effectively.
* Category Management Expertise: Demonstrated capability to manage categories with strong commercial acumen and analytical skills to identify opportunities, optimize spending, and drive performance across critical spending categories.
* Advanced Analytical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft 365 with advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
* ERP System Experience: Familiarity with ERP platforms (any system).
* Relevant Tertiary Qualifications: Degree in Commerce, Procurement, Business, or a related field.
* Excellent Stakeholder Engagement: Strong communication and relationship-building skills across internal and external stakeholders.
* Strategic Thinking and Process Improvement: Ability to develop procurement strategies, implement best practices, and continuously improve processes.
* Compliance and Risk Management: Knowledge of regulatory requirements and ability to manage procurement risks effectively.
* Leadership and Team Development: Experience in leading procurement teams and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
