We are one of Australia’s largest print and distribution businesses, specialising in Point of Sale solutions across national retail markets. We are currently seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our finance and administration team.
About the Role
As our Purchasing Manager, you will play a critical, hands-on role in driving procurement excellence and cost optimisation across the organisation. You will be directly responsible for supplier engagement, negotiating the most competitive pricing, and ensuring we secure optimal service levels and reliability. This position requires active participation in day-to-day purchasing operations, working alongside Purchasing Officers as their primary escalation point and trusted advisor for complex supplier and order-related issues.
You will take an active, operational approach to inventory management (both online and internal systems), provide hands-on backup coverage for purchasing tasks, and directly support production team members as needed. Additionally, you will be personally involved in coordinating and managing client installations, ensuring seamless execution and communication throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities
• Actively engage with suppliers to negotiate and secure the most competitive pricing, resolve operational issues, and maintain strong working relationships
• Drive continuous cost optimisation initiatives to maximise value and reduce procurement expenses while maintaining quality standards
• Serve as the primary escalation point for Purchasing Officers on supplier and order-related matters, providing hands-on guidance and resolution support
• Take direct ownership of managing and maintaining online and internal inventory systems, ensuring accuracy and operational efficiency
• Provide hands-on backup support for purchasing tasks during staff absences to maintain continuity of operations
• Work directly with the Production team to fulfill purchasing and coordination requirements as needed
• Personally manage and coordinate client installations from planning through execution, ensuring smooth communication and delivery
• Continuously monitor, evaluate, and optimize purchasing processes to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness
About You
We are seeking a hands-on, results-oriented professional who brings:
• Demonstrated experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles with a proven track record of securing competitive pricing
• Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build productive supplier relationships
• The ability to cultivate positive internal and external relationships across all organisational levels
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of procurement and inventory management
• Confidence and capability to troubleshoot complex issues and provide expert guidance to team members when challenges are escalated
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• A proactive, self-directed mindset with the ability to work independently and perform effectively under pressure
• Experience in print or manufacturing environments (highly desirable)
