Our client, H S & B K DHARIWAL PTY LTD, operating busy blueberries farm is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Production Horticulturist to support the planning and execution of blueberries production activities. This role focuses on optimising blueberries plant growth, monitoring crop health, implementing integrated pest and disease management strategies specific to blueberries cultivation, and assisting with harvesting and post-harvest processes. The ideal candidate will have a background in horticultural science, hands-on experience in farming, and strong attention to detail to maintain crop quality and maximise yield. Duties:
· Ensure all land preparation activities for blueberries production (clearing, ripping, mounding/bedding, contouring and planting preparation) are completed in accordance with established farm procedures.
· Train and monitor field operators to ensure tasks are performed safely and in line with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
· Prepare daily, weekly and monthly work programs to support planned blueberries farming operations
· Assess quality of field work and implement corrective actions where required to maintain productivity and crop standards.
· Ensure required material inputs are available for operations, including fertilisers, irrigation components, bunch covers, twine, propping materials, herbicides and pesticides.
· Ensure the upkeep, servicing and safe operation of tractors, farm machinery, implements and spraying equipment.
· Liaise with the Farm Operations Manager, Agronomist and Maintenance Manager to coordinate activities, address issues and support continuous improvement.
· Operate tractors and implements as required (slashing, spraying, fertiliser application, mulching, and general farm operations).
· Identify and report unusual pest, disease or plant stress signs (e.g., leaf spotting, wilting, insect pressure, or fruit quality issues) and assist with implementing control measures.
· Operate and monitor pressurised irrigation systems (pumps, filtration, fertigation and irrigation scheduling) to ensure optimal crop performance.
· Prepare and apply agricultural chemicals for control of weeds, pests and diseases in accordance with label requirements, WHS and environmental guidelines.
· Coordinate horticultural harvesting activities, ensuring correct maturity, careful handling and efficient movement of bunches to the packing facility.
· Conduct soil fumigation or treatment activities (where applicable) in line with farm procedures and regulatory requirements.
· Manage, install and maintain drainage systems to prevent waterlogging and protect crop health.
· Monitor and manage nursery plants/planting material to ensure healthy, consistent supply for planting and block replacement.
· Operate spreading, mulching and application equipment for fertiliser, compost or soil amendments as required.
Qualification:
· AQF Certificate IV or Higher
· Minimum 3 years of experience in related field.
· At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications
