Based in Adelaide, Mechanical Vegetation Solutions is an established and well-respected provider of arboricultural and other services to Government, Councils, Civil, Commercial and private clients. MVS Group also have an operating firewood plant and harvesting areas.
We are seeking an experienced Arborist Manager for immediate start to join our team at Mechanical Vegetation Solutions. This role will be based across our Edwardstown and Willunga offices. This full-time position is crucial in supporting our company\'s operations and offers an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to lead and oversee a crew of skilled arborists and ground crew delivering high-quality tree management services. This is a hands-on leadership role combining operational management, safety oversight, client liaison, and team development and work closely with senior management.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the day-to-day operations of our tree services, leading and mentoring arborists, climbers, ground workers, machine operators while planning and delivering commercial projects. This role requires high standards of quality, productivity to ensure works are completed efficiently, safely, and to Australian Standards while maintaining a strong team culture and excellent customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, supervise, and mentor arborist crews across day-to-day operations
* Liaise with clients, councils, and stakeholders as required
* Plan and schedule work to meet project timelines and client requirements
* Manage projects from RFT to implementation
* Produce accurate and commercially viable quotes and tenders
* Assist with quoting, job costing, and resource allocation
* Lead the management of projects in consultation with the arboriculture manager, and team leaders
* Conduct site assessments, job briefings, and risk assessments (SWMS/JSA)
* Provide advice to the arboriculture manager that relate to schedules, logistics, complexities of the works and client specifications
* Report to management on status of works, including progress against timelines and budgets through the ERP and other mechanisms
* Report any incident as per the MVS incident guidelines
* Plan and deliver jobs safely, on time to budget and Industry standards
* Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, company policies, and AS 4373 – Pruning of Amenity Trees
* Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and environmental care
* Support the performance of team standards and behaviours in line with MVS Code of Conduct
* Industry experience in arboriculture and civil activities
* Develop reports and analyse data in line with business requirements
* CPCCWHS1001 - Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (White card)
About You
* Minimum 5+ years' experience in arboriculture, including leadership or supervisory experience
* Strong knowledge of tree biology, pruning, removals, and risk management
* Proven ability to manage crews and multiple jobs concurrently
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
* Commitment to safety, quality, and professional standards
Essential Qualifications & Licences
* Certificate III in Arboriculture (or equivalent)
* Current White Card
* Valid Australian Driver's Licence
* Experience working with local councils or utility contracts
* Managerial experience in a similar role
